Asterhund Kennels were originally established in the early 1980’s in suburbia.  In 1988 we moved to our Lewiston SA with the intention of breeding more regularly, however this was also the time our children needed us to take them to their sporting events so we had an 18 year break from breeding, showing & trialling to enable us to give that time to our children.  

Since our children left home we started back breeding and showing with our beloved breed but have decided not to trial at this moment in time. 

We were lucky enough to purchase our foundation bitches, BB and Emmy, first off when we came back into the showing and breeding world.  We carefully select partners for our “girls” to further enhance and hopefully make improvements for our breed.  We are still breeding with their bloodlines as we now have their great great grandchildren (BB is at our latest babies 5th generation with 3rd generation for Emmy).  We have named one of our latest kids Bebe in honour of BB, plus Lena in honour of BB's beautiful Evangelina.

We have made many friends with fellow breeders around Australia, we learn with and from each other and have great social times too.  We have lots of contact with our puppy buyers and encourage them to send us photo’s and updates on their kids, also if they have any questions or are unsure about anything they are told to just pick up the phone or send an email in the information given to them at time of purchase and also during discussions prior to them collecting their “kids”.
